Alphanumeric Gets The Point

Besides this tee — which is on point for a number of obvious, culture and industry commentating reasons — the rest of brand Alphanumeric‘s Spring 2010 catalog is pretty underwhelming. Pick one up through Karmaloop for $24.00.

Mayer Hawthorne x HUF x Stones Throw Project

Mayer Hawthorne is one of the hottest new indie artists out right now (if you haven’t heard, click here immediately), and this month, in celebration of his debut album, ‘A Strange Arrangement’, Hawthorne’s label, Stones Throw Records, has collaborated with legendary San Francisco skate & apparel shop HUF on a special line of products.

HUF recruited local designer Freegums to design two items for the occasion: a limited edition T-shirt and a heart-shaped USB flash drive. The latter comes pre-loaded with Hawthorne’s stirring remake of Tony Bennett’s classic song, ‘I Left My Heart in San Francisco”, and is now available for pre-order over on Stones Throw’s website. It will officially release after the last stop of Hawthorne’s tour, in San Fran on April 15.

Check out both colorways of the shirt, the USB drive, and the promotional video featuring HUF’s skate team after the jump. Continue reading

3Sixteen Spring 2010 Releases

New York menswear brand 3Sixteen has debuted a few new pieces from their Spring 2010 collection. First we have their Utility Shirt ($155.00) made from Indigo Slub denim. Drawing heavily from classic work wear, this piece offers asymmetrical cuffs and subtly detailed pockets. The ringspun denim makes for a soft feel despite the more rigid look. Another option is the Hunting Shirt (shown; $155.00), which is made from black Chambray. These are two great efforts from 3Sixteen, who have been making a solid transition into the menswear world over the past few years. Both pieces, along with the rest of their Spring 2010 collection, are available now both through their online store and their flagship NYC location within Self Edge. Check out more detailed looks of both shirts after the jump. Continue reading

Brand RMX Interviews Designer Jeff Staple

Brand RMX caught up with legendary designer Jeff Staple for the latest installment of their ‘Good to Great’ video series. In the interview, Staple explains how the little things make all the difference. Staple has had a successful career thus far with projects such as the Nike SB Pigeon Dunk and opening New York City’s famed boutique Reed Space. In addition to running his own apparel line, aptly named Staple, Jeff also doubles as a design consultant. This interview is definitely one to check out for anyone interested in design, the apparel world, or entrepreneurship in general. Check out both parts after the jump.

2UNFOLD Laptop Bag

Purportedly handmade by a family of leather artisans in Italy’s Tuscan hills, the 2UNFOLD Laptop Bag ($500.00) from Hard Graft is something of a sartorial transformer. The bag, which is available in two tones: asphalt grey (shown) and hazelnut brown, adapts to the owners needs–changing from briefcase to shoulder bag to backpack or courier case essentially on a whim.

Each limited edition bag is individually numbered and constructed from 100% tanned Italian vegetable leather. Other features include premium Italian Superlampo zippers, two main front pockets with magnetic closures, and a removable shoulder strap.

Check out a batch of photos under the cut. [Svpply]

App Magnets by The Jailbreak Collective

These just released App Magnets from Brooklyn-based Product Art company Jailbreak Collective are, in our humble opinions, the coolest magnets ever. Here’s the schpeel from Jailbreak:

“In order to bring the magic of the iPhone into the third dimension, we asked an artist to reach into the iPhone home screen and literally pluck out the apps.  Then we added a little magnetism.  And best of all, we mass produced them so now you too can own your very own set of 3-D App Magnets!”

At $12.99, the set of 18 epoxy magnets–packaged in a large cardboard iPhone replica–includes classic icons like Safari, YouTube, Mail and Maps. In an intelligent let’s-not-get-sued maneuver, the company made each icon a little bit different from Apple’s original versions. Act quick if these are up your alley as Jailbreak says they’ve nearly sold out of their first run. [Gizmodo]
